Teen Book Award 2025 longlist revealed!

We’re thrilled to reveal the longlist for the 2025 Warwickshire Teen Book Award, a celebration of outstanding fiction for young people in Year 9 and above. Curated by passionate librarians from the Warwickshire Schools Library Service and secondary school librarians across the county, this year’s longlist showcases some of the most exciting and powerful books published in the last year.

From gripping thrillers to heartfelt coming-of-age stories, these titles reflect the diversity, creativity, and brilliance of today’s YA literature.

What Happens Next?

In September, students from participating schools will take part in Speed Shortlisting events—fast-paced, fun sessions where they’ll discuss and debate the longlisted titles to decide on the final shortlist of four books.

Then, it’s over to the readers! Students will read the shortlisted books and vote for their favourite in December. The winner will be revealed in a special online awards ceremony, where we’ll celebrate the voices and stories that resonated most with young readers.

Why It Matters

The Teen Book Award is more than just a reading challenge—it’s a chance for students to:

  • Discover new authors and genres
  • Build confidence in expressing opinions
  • Connect with peers through shared reading experiences
  • Have a real say in choosing the winner!

Stay tuned for updates on the final shortlist and online ceremony. Let the reading begin!
