Warwickshire Secondary Book Award 2021: The Winner...

Thank you to all the students that took part in the Warwickshire Secondary Book Award 2021! A big thank you also to all the shortlisted authors, librarians and teachers for all their support to make this possible. For more info on the shortlisted books, click here

We loved meeting you all at our Virtual Book Award Ceremony in July and hearing your students' questions for the authors answered. We hope you all enjoyed it. We know it's not the same as meeting in person but we very much hope that we will be back in a theatre with you all next year!

We had a great range of books on the shortlist with interesting themes, characters, plots and settings. The books encouraged lots of discussion amongst the students. Many students also discovered new genres, authors or writing styles that they had never read before but found they really enjoyed! This was wonderful to hear and is why we love running our Book Awards.

The winner of the WSBA 2021 voted for by students across Warwickshire is..... The Last Paper Crane by Kerry Drewery. Congratulations to Kerry.

We had some fantastic student competition entries. Thank you to all the students that entered. We loved reading your stories and looking at the images you created. Thank you to the authors and publishers who donated prizes, particularly to Elizabeth Wein for all the lovely books. The winning student entries can be seen below and the students were from the following schools: Hartshill School, Alcester Academy and Kineton High School.

Thank you again to all the students, teachers, librarians, authors and publishers for making this Award possible. We love running our Book Awards and working with you to support reading for pleasure, as we know that evidence shows reading for pleasure is associated with many positive outcomes for pupils' learning and well-being.
