Warwickshire Junior Book Award 2021: The Winner...

Thank you to all the schools and pupils who took part in this years WJBA. We had 25 schools take part this year! Thank you also to all the shortlisted authors for all their support. For more information on the shortlist, click here

We loved meeting you all at our Virtual Book Award Ceremony in July and hearing your pupils' questions for the authors answered. We hope you all enjoyed it. We know it is not the same as meeting in person but we very much hope that we will be back in a theatre with you all next year!

We were lucky enough to visit lots of schools this year for book talks- it was so lovely to see the enthusiasm from the pupils for all the books, everyone had their favourite! However, we can reveal that the WINNER of the Warwickshire Junior Book Award 2021 was Ben Davis with 'The Soup Movement.' Pupils loved the characters, story and humour in this book. Well done Ben!

We had some wonderful pupil competition entries and, as always, it was so hard to pick the winners. Thank you to all the pupils that entered. We loved reading your stories and looking at the images you created. The winning entries can be seen below and the pupils were from the following schools: Welford on Avon Primary School, Keresley Newland Primary Academy, Alveston Church of England Primary and Knightlow Church of England Primary School. The winning pupils have all been sent a goodie bag, which includes a book, pens, signed bookplates and a voucher! Thank you to the publishers and authors for your donations. Special thanks to Sophie Kirtley who kindly offered a virtual visit as a prize- the four schools above were entered into a drawer for this prize and Welford on Avon were the lucky winners!

Thank you again to all the pupils, teachers, librarians, authors and publishers for making this Award possible. We love running our Book Awards and working with you to support reading for pleasure, as we know that evidence shows reading for pleasure is associated with many positive outcomes for pupils' learning and well-being.

Here are just a few of the lovely comments we had from schools about our book award this year....
