Festive Treats! The books we like to read at Christmas
Elmer and Papa Red by David McKee
I really enjoy reading this festive treat with my boys at Christmas. The story has a slightly different take on Santa Claus, capturing the spirit of Christmas and the importance of giving.
Mog's Christmas by Judith Kerr
I LOVED reading this as a child and I think every family should have an adventure with Mog. Mog wont come down from the roof on Christmas Eve after being frightened by the Christmas tree! Will the Thomas family Christmas be ruined....?
The Box of Delights by John Masefield
This book reminds me of Christmas and also makes me want to eat Turkish Delight! Some may say the language is old fashioned now, but it is just so beautiful and descriptive that you feel like you are entering a different world.
The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S Lewis
At the age of 19 I asked for the complete box set of The Chronicles of Narnia and I got it! A teacher read The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe to us in primary school and I have loved it ever since. A fabulous read at any time of year, but especially nice at Christmas time.
The Jolly Christmas Postman by Janet and Allan Ahlberg
It's Christmas Eve and the Jolly Postman is delivering greetings to various fairy-tale characters. I think the illustrations in this books feel so festive and I especially love Santa's workshop!
